The Maximum Residue Level (MRL) for CIPC will change, following non-approval of the pesticide. It is not yet known when it will come into force, but a temporary MRL (tMRL) is being sought. The purpose of this is to accomodate the small amount of contamination of subsequent crops, from CIPC contained within the store fabric. It is anticipated that, as cleaning procedures gradually remove this contamination, the tMRL will be reduced, eventually to the normal Limit of Quantification level (0.01mg/kg). Changes to the tMRL will be based on submission of industry data over the next few years.
All stores where CIPC has been used should be cleaned using the guidance documents from the European Potato Value Chain, hosted on the AHDB website.
